  • Harambee is a Kenyan tradition of community self-help events such as fundraising or development activities. Harambee literally means "all pull together" in Swahili and is the official motto of Kenya.

At Bryan Station High School, Harambee is a gospel choir that has been coined “Station Harambee”. The group has one faculty director, and 2 student directors. Practices are held every Monday in Room 314 from 3:45-4:45. The main focus of Station Harambee: praising and worshipping God through music and challenging each member’s lifestyle to mirror what they sing about. While various gospel music styles are taught, the choir focuses mostly on contemporary gospel music.

Traditionally, Harambee performs at several local churches and other events in Fayette County and surrounding counties. In addition, Station Harambee hosts an annual “End of Year” Concert every May. For more information please feel free to contact Ms. Shaleta Washington, faculty sponsor for the group.
